Pineapple Habanero Salsa

I love pineapple and habanero peppers together! Here is a super easy, fresh pineapple salsa all dressed up!
Course Salsa
Cuisine Mexican
Prep Time 35 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes
Servings 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • 1-2 habanero peppers
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • Big handful of cilantro
  • Juice of 1-2 limes
  • ¼ cup agave syrup or honey optional
  • 2 teaspoons of Tajin or your favorite chile lime seasoning
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Peel and finely dice half of the fresh pineapple and transfer to a bowl. Remove the pineapple from remaining half. Reserve fruit for another recipe or enjoy fresh. Reserve hallowed out pineapple half to serve your salsa in.
  • Carefully remove stems and seeds from habanero pepper. Finely mince the amount you may want to use. Finely dice onion. To the bowl of pineapple, mix in the habanero, onion, finely chopped cilantro, agave, lime juice, Tajin and salt to taste. Cover and chill for 20 minutes.
  • When ready to serve, transfer salsa from bowl into hollowed out pineapple halve. Serve with homemade chips. This salsa is delicious of pork chops or your favorite grilled seafood!

Notes

Fruits like mango, peaches, nectarines and plums can be mixed in or substituted for the pineapple.
